My proposal was to develop an elevated or underground line. It was not accepted. They proposed a semihighspeed project, but ultimately nothing came of it. This is a big loss for the state.- Sreedharan clarified.

He also said that Vande Bharat trains will not reach Kerala. It is only possible to run the train at a speed of 80 km to 100 km per hour through the existing trains in Kerala. He added that Vande Bharat train running at a speed of 160 km per hour does not matter if it runs at a speed of 90 km per hour. Improving road lines in Ray will cost a lot of money. Land should be acquired for this purpose. It will take at least 10 years. But he added that the high speed train project can be completed in six to seven years.

He said that even after the construction of the Kochi Metro, the reason why the traffic on the road did not decrease was because of the high metro fare. Sreedharan stated that the metro is being built to control traffic and not to make a profit. Except India, no country in the world builds metro for profit. This is the wrong policy. Sreedharan said that metro is something that society needs.

He says that if he had control of the Kochi Metro, he would have traveled 30 percent more on the Pere Metro. For Metro to be financially successful, a line needs at least 1 lakh passengers. Operating costs should be reduced. They have a lot of staff and a lot of things. They have entrusted the recruitment to Kudumbashree. All this will destroy KMRL, Sreedharan added.
