A deep depression over the central west and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal over south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu coast weakened.
Moderate rains occurred in North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and Karaikal regions as it weakened as it was expected to strengthen as a low pressure area.
Heavy rain expected, very heavy rain warning lifted. Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Villupuram and other parts of North-East have received light rain for the last 2 days.
In the last 24 hours, Thamaraipakkam of Thiruvallur district has received a maximum of 10 cm of rain, while Thiruthani and Kanchipuram have received 7 cm of rain each.
Tamil Nadu is likely to receive moderate rain for the next 5 days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no chance of heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, an atmospheric circulation develops over the North Andaman Sea during the next 24 hours. Whether it strengthens as a low pressure area will be seen in the next couple of days.
However, it has been reported that Tamil Nadu will receive light to moderate rains for the next few days.
