Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 November Delhi Will address the closing ceremony of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan at 11 am at K Vigyan Bhawan. The PM will address the closing ceremony of the year-long event. It has been a constant endeavor of the Prime Minister to honor those heroes of the country’s history, whose contribution has not received due recognition. There are many such examples in the recent past, when the Prime Minister has ensured that such unsung heroes are given due importance, respect and promotion for the benefit of the youth and the society at large.
In November 2022, PM Modi participated in a public program ‘Gaurav Gatha of Mangarh Dham’. He paid tribute to Bhil freedom fighter Shri Govind Guru. In November 2022, the PM unveiled a 108 feet tall bronze statue of Shri Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in Bengaluru, commemorating his contribution. PM also remembered these heroes
In June 2022, the PM inaugurated ‘Kranti Gatha’, a newly created gallery of Indian revolutionaries inside an underground British-era bunker at the Mumbai Raj Bhavan. The bunker was discovered under the Raj Bhavan in the year 2016. This gallery of Indian revolutionaries includes Vasudev Balwant Phadke, Chaphekar brothers, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Veer Savarkar, Babarao Savarkar, Krantiguru Lahuji Salve, Anant Laxman Kanhere, Rajguru, Madam Bhikaji Cama, among others. In November 2021, PM in Ranchi Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Garden cum Freedom Fighters Museum was inaugurated.
Cherished memories of tribal freedom fighters
Under the vision of the Prime Minister, ten Tribal Freedom Fighters Museums are also being built to preserve the memories of tribal freedom fighters from different states and regions across the country. In February 2021, the PM laid the foundation stone of Maharaja Suheldev Memorial in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. In February 2019, the PM laid the foundation stone of the ‘Battles of Panipat Museum’, Panipat, to honor the heroes of the Panipat War.
PM Modi honoring unsung heroes
Apart from these formal programs, PM Modi is remembering and mentioning unsung heroes. From time to time, he remembers her contribution in his meetings, talks, public speeches, tweets and even in informal discussions. For example, the PM has recalled Rani Kittur Channamma’s contribution to the independence movement on several occasions, including the inauguration of the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’ and in his Independence Day speech this year. A commemorative coin of Rs and a coin of five rupees was issued.
