The by-election for the post of chief in Balhpur Panchayat 2 was held on Thursday amid tight security. Block Election Officer cum BDO Sudhir Kumar said that after the death of Balhpur Do Panchayat chief Vanshraj Singh, the post of chief in the said panchayat had become vacant, in which by-elections are being conducted. He told that polling booths were set up at three places including Jeetlal High School Nayagaon Balahpur, Community Hall Nayagaon, Middle School Nayagaon Singhpur for the elections.

A total of 9 booths were set up at these three places for voting. Out of 3244 electors, 1991 voters cast their vote in Balahpur Panchayat II. A total of 61 per cent voters voted. District administration and local police were deployed at the polling station. District Officer Roshan Kushwaha, SP Yogendra Kumar, DSP Amit Kumar, Inspector Madan Kumar, Matihani Police Station President Vivek Bharti, Nayagaon Police Station President Jyoti Kumar and a large number of police forces were seen ready to maintain peace at all three polling stations at the polling station. Counting of votes will be completed at the block headquarters on Saturday, May 27.

By-election for the post of ward member in Kumbhi

Panchayat sub-elections were held in Kumbhi Panchayat on Thursday amid tight security arrangements. Voters cast their votes at the polling station at the upgraded Middle School Patelia Dera. The by-election was conducted for Ward No.-11. Tight security arrangements were seen around the polling station.

53.29 percent voting in Bachwara

By-elections were held on vacant ward posts in various panchayats of Bachwara block. Teghra SDO Rakesh Kumar, Teghra DSP Dr. Ravindra Mohan Prasad, Bachwada Police Station President Ajit Kumar, Bachwada BDO Pooja Kumari, Bachwada CO Deepak Kumar inspected various booths. Due to the death of ward member Ram Govind Paswan in ward no. 60.44% on Dadupur booth number 118, 53.56% on 118, while two other members Kalyan Paswan and Mukhiya Paswan have also presented their claim.

At the same time, in ward seven of Chamtha Teen Panchayat, the post of ward member had become vacant due to the death of the ward member. Renu Devi, wife of deceased ward member Mantoon Paswan, has presented her claim on the same post, while Renu Devi, a resident of ward seven, has also presented her claim for the post of ward. At booth number 88 of Chamtha Teen, 57.51% in Chamtha Two Panchayat, the post of Panch was vacant after the death of five Bipin Singh of Ward Two, on which two members Sudhir Singh and Shravan Singh have presented their respective claims. Booth number 69 of Chamtha 2 polled 42.27%, while in ward number 12, booth number 79 did not vote as the candidate was unopposed. All together, 53.29% polling was recorded till 5 pm in the bye-elections for various posts.

Peaceful polling concluded with 70 percent voting for the post of ward member in Panchayat by-election

Peaceful polling was held on Thursday regarding the three-tier panchayat by-election on the seat vacated due to the resignation of the then ward member of ward number 11 of Sandalpur panchayat of block area. In which a total of 70.50 percent voters exercised their franchise. As per the information, a total of 4 candidates are in the fray for this post. Whose fate will be decided on 27 May 2023.

The Block Electoral Officer told that in addition to the post of the only Panchayat Ward Member in Ward No. 11 of Sandalpur Panchayat of Block area, Panchayat Ward Member and Village Court Panch Member in Ward No. 6 of Sanha Purba Panchayat, Village Court Panch in Ward 5 of Vishnupur Ahok Panchayat. Member and bye-election was to be held for the post of Gram Kachhari Panch member in Ward 8 of Sanha Uttar Panchayat. Voting was held due to the nomination of 4 candidates for the post of the only Panchayat member of Sandalpur Panchayat. After the counting of votes on May 27, the winner will be given a certificate.

55.8% voters exercised their franchise

In Mahipa Toll and Tetri Panchayat of Dandari block area, the by-elections for the vacant posts of Ward Member and Village Court in Dandari were conducted peacefully amid tight security arrangements. In this regard, Returning Officer cum BDO Priyanka Bharti said that in Pratappur Ward 15 of Mahipatol Panchayat, there are three candidates for the post of Ward Member, two candidates for the post of Ward Member in Ward 12 of Tetri and two candidates for the post of Village Court Panch of Dandari Ward 14. Meanwhile, the polling passed off peacefully, with a total of 55.8 per cent voters exercising their franchise. He informed that the counting of votes for this by-election will be held on May 27 at the block office premises.
