Sports: Khelo India Tribal and Tribal Sports Festival in Bhubaneswar from June 9, 242 players from Chhattisgarh will participate in 10 sports

Raipur. Raipur News Chhattisgarh teams were selected on Thursday by the Central Government for the Khelo India Tribal and Tribal Sports Festival to be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha from June 9 to 12. There are 242 players from 10 sports from Chhattisgarh. In this, 122 male and 120 female players have made it. Let us tell you that the selection trial for Khelo India Rural and Indigenous National Games 2023 was organized. On behalf of the Sports Department, a state level selection competition was organized for the selection of teams of 10 sports archery, football, athletics, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, rugby, swimming, volleyball and yoga at the State Training Center in Bilaspur. More than 500 tribal players from across the state participated in this.

Raipur’s dominance in swimming:

Raipur players dominated swimming in the trials. Alyosha Shah Kunjam of Raipur secured first position in Girls 50, 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly events. At the same time, Pradeep Dhruv stood first in the boys’ 50, 100m breast stroke and 50m butterfly events. Vishal Potai topped the 50m, 100m freestyle and 50m back stroke events. Naman Netam secured first position in 100m back stroke, second position in 50m back stroke and 50m butterfly.

Archery’s 10-member team will land

A 10-member archery team from Chhattisgarh will participate. The team consists of eight players and two coaches and managers. 25 Scheduled Tribe archers from across the state participated.

24 Khelo India centers approved in 24 districts of Chhattisgarh

Significantly, an MOU has been signed between the Directorate of Sports and SAI for 24 Khelo India Centers in Chhattisgarh. On the proposal of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Chhattisgarh, the Sports Authority of India has approved 24 Khelo India Centers for various sports in three phases for 24 districts.
