Haryana-Jharkhand has the maximum number of smugglers sending consignments of illegal liquor to Bihar, the action of the Prohibition Department continues

State Bureau, Patna: The Prohibition Division of Bihar Police has conducted 424 raids between January and April this year, in which 167 FIRs have been registered. 270 accused have been arrested under the Excise Act. During this, more than two lakh 58 thousand liters of country-foreign liquor has been seized.

According to the police headquarters, the team of Prohibition Division is continuously conducting raids outside the state as well. Till April this year, 38 big liquor smugglers have been arrested from outside the state, who were sending illegal liquor consignments to Bihar.

Of these, maximum 18 liquor smugglers have been arrested from Haryana and 11 smugglers from Jharkhand. Apart from this, four liquor smugglers have been arrested from Uttar Pradesh, three from Rajasthan and two from Punjab. Prior to this, in the year 2021, 34 liquor smugglers were caught from outside the state while in 2022, 115 liquor smugglers were caught by the team of the Prohibition Division.
