Chennai: Heavy rain is likely in 11 districts including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Karur and Namakkal today (June 04), according to the Chennai Meteorological Department.

A statement issued by Chennai Meteorological Department in this regard:

Atmospheric downward circulation and heating over South Indian regions

Due to the depression, 11 districts namely Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Kallakurichi and Tiruvannamalai are likely to receive heavy rain at one or two places today (June 04).

Tomorrow (June 05)

Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Karur, Namakkal and Salem tomorrow (June 05). Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to receive light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at few places during the next 4 days.

As for Chennai, the sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. The maximum temperature will be around 40 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around -30 degree Celsius.
