Coromandel Express is a daily train from Kolkata to Chennai. This train runs to Chennai at 3.20pm daily. It will travel along the east coast via Odisha and Andhra to reach Chennai the next day
Last Friday too this train left Kolkata like usual. Then it met with an accident while reaching a place called Balasore in Odisha.
Train accident: Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express and a freight train were involved in the accident. As usual this train was packed. Especially in this, people from West Bengal who came to Tamil Nadu have been in excess. Two days after the accident, rescue operations have been completed and rehabilitation work is now underway.
More than 280 people died in this accident. Also, more than 800 people were injured. It is considered to be one of the worst train accidents in India in the last 15 years. Survivors of the accident, which has caused major shocks, describe the scene as horrific.
Indecent act: The nation consoles the bereaved and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured. However, some indulged in some vile activities during this difficult time. That means they are spreading unnecessary hate speech by posting derogatory comments like the driver of this train belongs to a particular religion.
Meanwhile, Odisha Police today warned that strict action will be taken against those posting such comments. Police have warned that some social media accounts are spreading false information about the Balasore accident and legal action will be taken against them.
Warning: They also posted, “Strict legal action will be taken against those who spread rumors and try to disturb religious harmony.. State Railway Police (GRP) is investigating the cause of the accident.”
So far, about 288 people have died in this death toll. Also, more than 1000 people were injured. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the accident occurred due to a problem in the electronic interlock system.
what is the reason: Railway Board’s Jaya Verma Sinha said that signal problem is also the cause and the cause will be ascertained only after further investigation in this regard. Also, Sinha said that this has nothing to do with Gavach, which is used to prevent train accidents.
The audit report of the railways, which was tabled in Parliament in September last year, has now become a talking point. The audit found serious deficiencies in train safety. Experts have said that the accident could have been avoided if the railway ministry had carefully considered and rectified this.
