The data reveals that 14,86,000 district wise family card holders across Tamil Nadu do not have any bank account number. The data suggests that many of these family cardholders have bank accounts and do not have bank accounts because Aadhaar is not linked.
In this regard, details of 14,86,000 family card holders along with their address and phone number have been sent to all Zonal Coordinators. If they already have a bank account, instructions have been given to get its details and for those who do not have one, to open a zero balance account in the district central cooperative banks.
For family cardholders who already have a bank account number, the concerned shop staff will go directly to the houses of the family cardholders and take a copy of the first page of the bank account number passbook, and get them to provide the family card number and the name of the head of the family in it, and the 11 details of the respective family cardholders. Along with the copy, the details should be given to the Secretaries of the Co-operative Society concerned and uploaded on the internet through the computer.
For family cardholders who do not have a bank account number, they should approach the nearest district central cooperative bank branch in person along with the sheet containing the 11 details and open a zero balance account, send it to the district registrar along with the family cardholder details and upload it to the internet through the computer. These details should be obtained through Co-operative officers, it said.
It is said that the work of linking the bank account details with the ration cards has been started so that the cash benefits of the Tamil Nadu government go directly to the ration card holders through their bank accounts.
