Car Runs Over Punjab Players Waiting For Bus In Jammu, Nine Injured

An uncontrollable car ran over nine Punjab players who had come to Jammu to play in the national level Sambo tournament. The condition of two of them is said to be serious, while the rest are also injured. All have been admitted to GMC. All these players are residents of village Jagraon in Ludhiana, Punjab.

The accident happened on Friday night at 10 pm. The national tournament of the said games is being held at the Sports Complex near DRDO Hospital located in Bhagwati Nagar. In this, players from 19 states and union territories have come from all over the country. Police has arrested the car driver.

The Under 14, 17 and 19 age categories are scheduled to be held on Friday 2nd December and Saturday 3rd December. After the end of the game, the players of the Punjab team were waiting for their bus outside the sports complex. Two of their coaches were also present along with these players.

Then a speeding car first collided with a bike and then trampled the players standing in front. The car then came to a halt after colliding with another vehicle. Canal Road Police and Pauni Chak Police reached the spot after getting the information.

All the injured were taken to GMC with the help of police and local people. The condition of two players is said to be serious here. The other seven players have fractures in the head, arms and legs.

The injured include 18-year-old Harshit, 19-year-old Vinay, 18-year-old Chirag, 19-year-old Harkaran Singh, 15-year-old Ankit, 13-year-old Sajpeet, 12-year-old Manas all residents of Punjab Ludhiana. The 19-year-old player has not been identified. Huh.
