A Congress leader’s wish to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra and walk with Rahul Gandhi remained just a wish. In fact, Mangilal Shah, former Municipal Vice President of Zirapur, who came to Susner to participate in the yatra, passed away on Saturday. They had been making preparations for the journey for 3 days.

Councilor representative from Ward 14 of Zirapur and Mangilal Shah, a member of the State Congress Committee, was 55 years old. On coming to know about his death, a wave of mourning spread among the Congressmen. Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh himself attended his funeral and also gave him a shoulder. The name of Rahul Gandhi’s meeting held in Susner was also changed to Shradhaniya Sabha.

He was handed over to Zirapur on Saturday itself. Thousands of people attended his funeral. On the way, the city Congress workers draped the Congress flag on his funeral pyre. While talking to Dainik Bhaskar, former CM Digvijay Singh’s eyes became moist remembering Mangilal.

Talking about Mangilal, Congress District Vice President Ram Gopal Gupta said that For the last 3 days, Mangilal was busy preparing for the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He was very happy. He was very excited to walk with Rahul. He had also set up a tea stall for the yatra at Susner. On Saturday morning at 5 am we both left together to go to Susner. We went there to our tea camp. The journey started in a while. I said to Mangilal, let the journey begin. So he told me that you go on the journey, I will come in a while. After that they started walking there. In a short while he suddenly fell down. He was brought in an ambulance accompanying the yatra. The doctors present on the trip treated him. He was given CPR. Even after this, when he did not regain consciousness, the doctors declared him dead.

I am sorry that he is not with us today. He wanted to meet Rahul Gandhi, but what can he do, he left before he could come.

He had a special dream of meeting Rahul Gandhi, but he died of a heart attack in the morning. Very illustrious person, people knew him as the messiah of the poor.

In the year 1994, he contested the election of councilor from Ward 13 and won. In the year 1999, he again won the election of councilor from Ward-13 and became the vice-president of the municipality. In the year 2004, he contested from Ward-14 to his wife Shakeela-B for the post of President but she lost. In the year 2009, Mangilal again contested from Ward-8 but this time he lost by 1 vote. In 2014, he contested the presidential election on a Congress ticket. But this time again he was defeated. In 2022 Ward-14 his wife Shakeela Bi contested and won by 385 votes. Presently Mangilal was a member of Pradesh Congress Committee.
