Director and screenwriter Mithun Manuel Thomas talks about the big changes in cinema and the audience. Although many films are released every year, there is currently a huge debate about how well they satisfy the audience. Mithun is talking about this topic.
Mithun says that in this OTT revolution, the only way to survive is to capture the audience by giving good films.
Mithun Mirchi told Malayalam that the audience who watch films in all languages expect things beyond that from us.
‘We are standing in an open market. Any product in the world can be traded in India. Foreign films are the same. Over the years, foreign films have been coming and marketing here.
Foreign films have been playing here since the time of our grandfathers. Both Tamil and Hindi movies are played in Kerala. Now it is with other language films.
Along with all that came the OTT revolution. The people of Kerala who are said to be the audience are a well-informed and educated community with a large number of cinephiles.
They are all people who watch a lot of Korean and German series. We know about many movies and serials through their posts. The audience has changed a lot. Which movie to watch is not their convenience.
If it hurts our film, doesn’t it mean that we have gone behind the audience? Does it not make it clear that it cannot be impressed beyond their imagination and understanding?
We can satisfy the audience who watch movies in every language in the world by confronting them with good movies. There is no other way,’ says Mithun Manuel.
