Reportedly, the release of Mammootty’s film ‘Kathal – The Core’, directed by Jio Baby, has been banned in Qatar and Kuwait. Censor certificate of the film has been denied in these countries. It is indicated that the content of the film is the reason for the ban. It is reported that an attempt is being made to lift the ban by making the changes suggested by the Censor Board. Meanwhile, the film will be released on 23rd of this month in UAE and other Gulf countries. UAE Vox Cinemas has already announced the showtimes of Kathleen.
It is also special that Tamil actress Jyoti is acting in a Malayalam film after a gap of 13 years with the much-awaited Mammootty starrer ‘Kathal – The Core’. Another feature is that Mammootty and Jyothika are teaming up for the first time.
Earlier, Mohanlal’s film ‘Monster’, directed by Vysakh, faced a similar ban. The film was denied release in multiple countries at the time due to its LGBTQ content. The ban was lifted in Bahrain after the censor board complied with the producers’ request to trim 13 minutes from the film.
Apart from Mammootty and Jyothika, Kathal – The Core has a talented ensemble cast including Lalu Alex, Muthumani, Chinnu Chandini, Sudhi Kozhikode and Adarsh Sukumaran. The cinematography of the much awaited movie is done by Salu K Thomas. The film is produced by Mammootty under the banner of Mammootty Company. Lyrics by poet Anwar Ali, composed by Mathews Pulikan and sung by G.Venugopal and K.S.Chitra, the song Enkaval has already been taken over by music lovers.
