A killer who outwits his opponents with some mathematical tricks. His victims are the important leaders of the world including the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The murders are carried out without any loopholes through expert preparation. World-class investigative agencies including Interpol are taking up the case. Aslan, an Interpol officer in Turkey, is being investigated in Tamil Nadu, India. Aslan’s investigation and subsequent developments bring him to Maths teacher Madhiyazhakan… Ajay Gnanamuthu’s ‘Cobra’ is a mind game that stimulates the audience’s thoughts like adding and subtracting through mathematical formulas.

The assassin who completes his target by counting. Throughout the film, the director has shown a similar story to Hollywood films but also a technical style of making. Is Madhiyazhak the killer that Interpol is looking for? Who is behind him? Who are his assistants? The break of the movie is where the story that moves through these questions comes with a twist that ‘crates’ the audience.

Vikram’s solo performance transcends the script. Subplots that make for a psychological thriller. Cinematography, VFX and background music are all aspects that make Cobra stand out. Vikram’s performance in different get-ups as a Russian and a Chinese is superb. It can be said that Chien is the backbone of the film. References to various characters including Anyan are deliberately brought in in some scenes. Vikram’s performance in the rain fight and the subsequent five-minute long interrogation scenes will leave the audience in awe.

Roshan Mathew, who plays Rishi, a billionaire business tycoon, is another star who is winning applause. Roshan has tried to differentiate the character with a negative shade in his own way. Roshan’s Tamil dubbing is also excellent. Irrfan Pathan, who stepped onto the silver screen as an Interpol officer named Aslan, has not made a bad start.

Mia, who played Vikram’s mother, Sarjano Khalid, who played the young age, Srinithi Shetty, the heroine, K.S. Ravikumar, Anandraj, Robo Shankar, Meenakshi Govindarajan, John Vijay and Mrinalini Ravi are the other main stars of the film.

Ajay Gnanamuthu is a director who created fans with films like Dimonte Colony and Imaika Nodikal. Most of Ajay’s films are characters who travel through complicated storylines. The same routine continues here. Vikram’s Madhiyazhaka is a very complex character with many layers. However, psychological conditions such as hallucinations and multiple personalities could have been presented in a simpler way.

A.R. Rahman’s background music and songs are another feature of the film. The duration of the movie is three hours. Bhuvan Srinivasan’s editing also did justice.

The film can be described as a science thriller or a psychological thriller. Cobra is a visual feast that amazes the audience with its making and directorial excellence without giving importance to the superhuman scenes of the usual Tamil superstar films.
