Vinayagar Chaturthi festival is usually celebrated in Dharmapuri district. Due to the corona virus, it was not possible to worship idols in public places for the Ganesha Chaturthi festival for the last two years. The Tamil Nadu government has given permission to worship the idol this year.
At 1,400 locations
Following this, the public brought Ganesha idols to the places of their choice at a total of 1,400 places in Dharmapuri district yesterday evening to night. Yesterday morning, from 4:30 to 6:00 they performed Ganapati Homam and opened the eyes of Ganesha idols and started worship.
The festival was inaugurated by the people of the Muslim community by offering puja to Ganesha idols placed in various areas, including Dharmapuri Rajagopal Counter Street, emphasizing social harmony. The festival team gave offerings including Pongal and Sundal to the devotees. More than a thousand policemen are engaged in security and patrolling.
Consecration of 2,000 idols
In Hosur, Dhenkanikottai and Choolagiri talukas, Hindu organizations, youths and the general public consecrated idols of Lord Ganesha in public places yesterday morning. 500 idols in Hosur city alone, more than 500 idols in Hosur suburbs, Barikai, Bagalur, Choolagiri, and a total of 2,000 idols across the district.
Many forms of Ganesha
The 18-feet tall Raja Vinayaka statue set up by the MN Charitable Council opposite Srinivasa Theater in Hosur enthralls the devotees.
A large set has been set up on Jenapar Street and underneath the huge Shiva idol, there is a Ganesha idol. A statue of Ganesha is installed in the mandapam in the middle of Hosur Therpettai Theppakulam. To reach it, they have built a bridge over Theppakulam.
People are watching this with interest. Ganesha statue erected by Shiv Sena near GRT Circle, winking eyes and twitching ears enthralls the devotees. Thus, huge sets have been erected at various places and idols of Ganesha have been consecrated.
* In Uthangarai union area, at 209 places, Ganesha idols were placed and special pooja was held. In Singarapet, on behalf of the Hindu Front, a Ganesha statue was consecrated in Tirthagiri Valasai Periya lake yesterday evening.
On the occasion of Vinayagar Chaturthi, a statue of Vinayagar has been placed at Arur bus stand on behalf of Small Businessmen Association. Also, the entire bus stand was decorated with colorful lights.
