Anandpur Saheb MP Manish Tiwari insisted that the list of voters should be disclosed for free and transparent elections. “How can a fair and free election be held without a publicly available voter list? “The essence of fair and free process is the names and addresses of the voters. Why do we have to go to every PCC office in the country to find out who the voters are?” he tweeted.
Shashi Tharoor and Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram joined him for this tweet. However, the Congress leadership has made it clear that this demand will not be accepted under any circumstances. It has made it clear that there was never such a policy in the past and it will continue in the old way.
Recently, All India Congress Party Central Election System Chairman Madhusudan Mistry responded on this issue. It was explained that the list of PCC voters will be sent to the state headquarters and the consolidated lists will be handed over to the candidates contesting in the presidential elections.
Responding to this demand, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal stated that this is an internal matter in the party and it is not a public matter for everyone to see the lists. It has been clarified that such policies have never been followed before, and the same policies that have been in force so far will be followed.
