Dubai: Pakistan has returned to the first position in the ODI rankings of the International Cricket Council. After India defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets to win the Asia Cup, Pakistan overtook Australia to reach the first position.
Pakistan and India have 115 rating points each. Australia is in third place with 113 rating points. India got 115 rating points after winning the Asia Cup. Despite winning the Asia Cup, the reason why India went to second place was because they lost to Bangladesh by six runs in the last match of the Super Four.
If India had won the match, it would have secured the first rank. Pakistan has 115 rating points from 27 matches. Pakistan’s point is 3102. India has 4701 points. Pakistan is one step ahead of India on average basis. South Africa beat Australia to win the five-match ODI series 3-2. Two wins in South Africa did not help them. India has another chance to reach the top spot before the World Cup. The three ODI series against Australia is coming up.
If they win the first ODI, India can overtake Pakistan and reach the top spot. It is not easy to win the series after beating Australia who performed well against South Africa. India is number one in both Twenty20 and Test formats.
