Mohammed Shami: World Cup 2023 was excellent for Indian cricket team’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami. Of course, Team India could not win the title but Shami won the hearts of cricket lovers with his performance. Shami took 24 wickets in 7 matches of the World Cup. During this period, he held the record of becoming the Indian bowler who took maximum 7 wickets in an innings, became the Indian bowler who took the most wickets in the World Cup history, and took the record of taking 5 wickets (4 times) most times in the World Cup. Despite this, the selectors have ignored him.
Mohammed Shami: No chance in T20 series
After the World Cup, the Indian team has to play a 5-match T20 series with Australia. Considering the way Mohammed Shami is bowling, he should have been in this series but he has been rested in the T20 series. BCCI has expressed confidence in the new bowlers in his place, which is unfair to this informed bowler.
Last T20 match a year ago
33 year old Mohammed Shami has been out of T20 format for the last one year. He played his last match against England on 10 November in the T20 World Cup 2022. Since then he has not been given a chance. The kind of bowler Shami is, he can do wonders for India in any format. He was the top bowler in IPL 2023 by taking 28 wickets. Despite this, ignoring him from the T20 format is beyond comprehension.
