Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif praised the captain Rohit Sharma who played a key role in Team India’s World Cup final.
Internet Desk: Team India finished runner-up in the recently concluded World Cup. In the final, Australia beat India by six wickets and won the World Cup for the sixth time. Team India’s captain Rohit Sharma played a key role in India reaching the final in this tournament. He played aggressively and gave bright starts. He continued the same momentum in the final too and scored 47 runs off 31 balls. He scored a total of 597 runs and became the top-2 scorer of the tournament. In this background, former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif praised Rohit Sharma and congratulated Australia for winning the final. He stated that he was not ready to accept that the best team won the World Cup. Kaif spoke to Star Sports after the match.
“Congratulations to Australia for winning the World Cup. But, I am not ready to accept that the best team wins the World Cup. This Indian team is the best team. India have won many times against the same Australian team despite losing today (in the final). It was one of those days that wasn’t ours. Sometimes this happens. Ricky Ponting scored a century against India in the 2003 World Cup final. Team India lost in that match. I am also in that Indian team. Even then we were very sad. So I can understand what Rohit Sharma is feeling right now. We don’t know what will happen in the future. But if you ask me, my chest swells with pride to see this Indian team in the 2023 World Cup. I salute Rohit Sharma’s performance in this World Cup,” Kaif said.
