Along with captain Rohit Sharma, star batsman Virat Kohli has been included in his team. Sreesanth expressed confidence that both of them definitely have a chance to play T20 World Cup. It is known that Rohit and Kohli have been staying away from the T20 series for the past few years.
There are reports that the management has rested these two stars in order to prepare the young team for the 2024 World Cup, including full preparation for the ODI World Cup-2023 on home soil. In this background, the team India was defeated by Australia in the final of the World Cup held on November 19.
The Indian team, which came into the ring with the belief of winning the trophy, lost to the Aussies in an unexpected manner, the discussion on the fate of Rohit and Kohli in the T20s started. In this context, Kerala fast bowler Sreesanth made key comments while talking to Sportskeeda.
“The big question before everyone is whether Rohit Sharma will play or not. In my opinion, Rohit Sharma will be the captain in the T20 World Cup as well. Because he has the honor of winning five IPL titles.
However, whether Rohit takes the lead by the time of the tournament or hands over the reins to Hardik Pandya will depend on the circumstances at that time. Young wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will also join the team if he achieves full fitness. But his name will be the third keeper option.
However, as Manako is a match winner, his place as a batsman seems certain. But depending on the form, a decision will have to be taken regarding his selection,” Sreesanth shared his views.
