The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced new rules for the ODI and T20 formats. All the teams should be alert with the new rules. If there is a difference, five runs will have to be surrendered. The officials took a key decision in the ICC board meeting which ended at Ahmedabad. Besides reducing the gap between two overs in ODIs and T20s, changes will be made in such a way that if the bowling team repeats the same mistake three times, the opposing team will be penalized by five runs.
According to the new rules, the bowling team in ODIs and T20s should bowl another over in 60 seconds (one minute) after completing one over. To this extent, a new ‘stop clock’ system will also be introduced. Otherwise, if the bowling team violates this rule three times in the match, then the opposing team will get five runs as a penalty. Currently, it will be implemented experimentally in ODI and T20 formats in the men’s section. This is due to the fact that many times the matches are not completed within the stipulated time. With this… now the penalty runs also affect the outcome of the match.

The ICC said in a statement that the Chief Executive Committee has agreed to implement the new rules in ODI and T20 cricket. Each team shall start the next over within 60 seconds of the end of the previous over. There is no penalty if the mistake is made twice. But if a team does this for the third time in an innings, then a penalty of five runs will be imposed. That means the opposing team has to score 5 runs.
With this decision, the slow over rate will be reduced. Also, cricketers are more cautious in this regard. Five runs is not an ordinary thing.. In a thrilling match these five runs can determine the outcome of the match. With this, sports pundits are of the opinion that every team will be careful about this rule from now on.
