Before the India vs Pakistan match, coach Dravid clarified in a press conference that Pant is not the first choice wicket keeper in T20Is right now. We play according to the ground conditions and opposition and pick the best XI accordingly. There may not be a first choice playing eleven for every position. That day against Pakistan we felt that Dinesh Karthik was the right option for us. Apart from Pant, the Indian team also has a senior wicketkeeper in the form of Dinesh Karthik, who was part of the squad in both the matches.

Rishabh Pant has cemented his place in the Indian playing XI in both Test cricket and ODI cricket. He is the number one keeper here, but Dinesh Karthik’s return to T20 has put his position in jeopardy. Especially his numbers are not very good in this format either. In 2022, Pant has scored only 260 runs in 13 T20 Internationals. In which he has a half-century, but a strike rate of just 135.
