Thane/Bhiwandi: Ganesh Duryodhan Kokate (33) was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Kasheli toll booth in Bhiwandi in a competition to get the contract for Mathadi works, which took place around 7.30 pm on Wednesday night. Police sources informed that a case of murder has been registered in Narpoli police station against unknown accused in this matter.
Ganesha used to live in Lokmanyanagar area of Thane. He had recently moved to Pawanputra Society in Kasheli area of Bhiwandi. 13 to 14 cases of affray have been registered against him in different police stations including Vartaknagar police station. On Wednesday, while he was on his way to his home from Thane to Kasheli in his car, some goons who were already holed up near the Kasheli toll gate opened fire indiscriminately towards his car.
In this, a bullet hit Ganesh who was in a car near the welcome arch of Kasheli Gram Panchayat in Bhiwandi. He collapsed in the car in a pool of blood. At that time, some people gathered there admitted him in a private hospital in Thane with serious injuries. However, he died during treatment at around 9.30 pm. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Bhiwandi Navnath Dhavale, Senior Police Inspector of Narpoli Police Station Madan Ballal visited and inspected the incident site. Deputy Commissioner Dhavale said that two teams have been formed to search for the accused and the accused will be arrested soon.
