Senchi: Every day motorists get stuck in numerous potholes on the Senchi Sankaraparani river bridge.
Senchi is the main route from Chennai, Puducherry to Tiruvannamalai and from Puducherry to Bengaluru. Similarly, Vellore to Villupuram is also the main route to Trichy.
Vehicles going to these towns have to pass through Shankarabarani river bridge at Senchi.
Built 20 years ago, the bridge was in a precarious condition a few years ago with cracked cement concrete and protruding wires. Due to this, frequent accidents occurred. Villagers passing through this road blocked the road. Even then Nagai did not take any action.
A lawyer filed a Public Interest Litigation in Chennai High Court. The court directed Nakai to study the stability of the bridge. After this, Nagai removed the weak concrete parts of this bridge and constructed a tarmac road.
Due to the improper construction of this road, now there are huge potholes in each link of the bridge. There is a state of vehicles jumping and jumping on the bridge. Bicyclists get stuck in the big ditch where the bridge starts and have accidents every day. Small cars are getting old. There is also the danger that sometimes the disc of the car gets bent and the car stops at the same place.
Thousands of vehicles travel through this route for Krivalam in Tiruvannamalai and Melamalayanur Amavasai Unchal Utsavam. Highways Minister Velu and Deputy Speaker Pichandy are on their way to Chennai from Tiruvannamalai.
Minority Affairs Minister Mastan passes through this route several times daily. However, this situation persists. The general public has demanded that the Nagai authorities take action before a major accident occurs due to the potholes that are getting bigger day by day.
