2 people, including an architect, were killed when a hotel wall collapsed at Vellore Old Bus Station

Vellore and surrounding areas received rain since last Saturday night. Due to this rain, the wall of the kitchen at the back of a hotel in Vellore Old Bus Station has become weak due to water seeping. In this situation, a part of the wall of the kitchen hall in the hotel collapsed due to heavy rain last night.

The employees who came to the shop yesterday morning saw this and reported it to the owner. Later steps were taken to carry out renovation work in the shop. Accordingly, the work of removing the collapsed building waste and renovation work took place yesterday morning.

Ramamurthy (50 years old) from Salavanpettai, Vellore, a builder, and 2 women, including Vennila (45) from Karugambuthur, were involved in this work.

The wall collapsed

They were clearing the rubble. In this situation, another part of the wall collapsed unexpectedly at around 10 am. In it, 3 people including Ramamurthy and Vanilla were trapped and injured. Neighbors came there and started the rescue operation. Vellore North police and firemen also rushed to the spot and engaged in rescue operations after getting the information.

All the 3 injured persons were rescued and sent to Vellore Kastamparai Government Hospital for treatment. When the doctors examined there, they said that one of the three women had died. The other two were later given intensive care. The builder Ramamurthy also died without treatment.

Police investigation

According to the police, the wall suddenly collapsed while removing the building debris. Ramamurthy and a woman accompanying him died in this. A woman named Vanilla is being treated. The name of the woman who died with Ramamurthy is not known. We are investigating his identity. They said that the hotel owner is being investigated.

The revenue department is investigating the matter. Led by Assistant-Collector Kavitha, the revenue department ‘sealed’ the hotel.
