But the government officials are taking all kinds of measures to save those trapped in the tunnel. As part of this, the vertical drilling machine reached there today. The work of laying the pipe line inside the tunnel has already started here. In a major breakthrough Monday in the ongoing rescue operation, officials drilled a 57-meter-long, 6-inch-wide pipe into the tunnel to send large quantities of solid food and water to the trapped workers.
Food, phones and chargers were also sent to the workers through this. Also, a video of the workers talking to their family members has come out for the first time. It was seen in the video that almost all the workers were safe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday to review the relief efforts. Dhami explained the whole situation to the Prime Minister. He informed him about the safety of those trapped.
