There are four days left for Rajasthan elections. The election chariot of Amar Ujala’s ‘Satta Ka Sangram’ regarding the politics of the state has reached Chief Minister’s home town Jodhpur. Senior journalists Ajay Asthana, Sangeeta Sharma and Mukesh Dutt Sharma joined us here to discuss the politics of the state. During question-answer session with seniors, we tried to know what is going to happen in Rajasthan this time? Will the magic of the ‘magician’ work once again or will the old custom of turning the roti be seen once again.

How much magic of ‘Magician’ was there in Jodhpur before Rajasthan?
Senior journalist Sangeeta Sharma, who was involved in the election discussion, said in response to this question that Gehlot ji’s magic continues on his seat, but if seen overall, this time the atmosphere does not look the same as before. This time the voters are silent. Every time before the elections, the voters make it clear who will have the upper hand. This time even the candidates are not completely sure of their victory.
What will be the role of rebels from both the parties after ticket distribution?
Sangeeta Sharma said that the damage control exercise that was done every time after ticket distribution in both the parties, be it BJP or Congress, was not seen this time. As of today, rebels from both the parties are standing on 80 seats. I believe that about half of these rebels can spoil the equation. It is certain that rebellion is going to create problems in both the parties. Apart from this, till now BJP has been completely moving ahead with Kamal. Even the big leaders of the party were kept on the margins till now. Now big faces like Vasundhara Raje have been seen in the resolution letter. Same is the condition of Congress also. This time Congress means Gehlot’s face is being seen.
This time the public is not vocal about either the government or the opposition, why?
Commenting on the question, senior journalist Ajay Asthana said that the public is in a dilemma this time. This is because this time the public has the schemes and seven guarantees of the Gehlot government, while on the other hand Modi ji has his own guarantees. Just now Modi ji came to Baytu. Apart from this, wherever BJP meetings have been held, Modi ji has appealed to vote on the lotus only. Nowhere has there been an appeal for votes in the name of even a single candidate. It is clearly visible that BJP is working only on Modi and Kamal. On the other hand, Congress’s entire focus is on Gehlot and his plans. Overall, the Rajasthan election is between Modi and Gehlot.
Why couldn’t BJP find any leader to face Gehlot in Jodhpur?
Responding, Ajay Asthana said that it was not an easy decision for BJP to field someone in front of Gehlot. Gehlot ji has won from here five times and is now ready to fight for the sixth time. In such a situation, who should be fielded was a big question for BJP. BJP brainstormed many names to corner Gehlot in his house, among which were Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rajya Sabha MP Rajendra Gehlot. After this, finally BJP gave ticket to Mahendra Singh Rathore, who is a retired professor from JNU.
According to people, the most effective issue of Rajasthan is employment, why?
Throwing light on this question, senior journalist Mukesh Sharma said that considering the issue of employment, the Gehlot government has seriously included this issue in the seven guarantees given this time. Apart from this, the people have benefited from the work he has done while paying attention to health and the government will also benefit from this benefit somewhere.
