Accidental Death: In Panaji, the number of drowning deaths in the state is increasing day by day. A similar accident took place at Chimbal last Sunday evening. Darik Raj (18), a youth who came from Mumbai to visit his relatives in Goa, drowned in Chirekhani in Shiner-Chimbal.

His body was found this morning. According to information received, Darik Raj had come to his relatives in Chimbal on the occasion of Diwali. Yesterday evening he had gone to swim in Chirekhani water at Shiner-Chimbal along with his cousin and other friends. Everyone got into the water, but Darric didn’t anticipate the water and began to eat the group. He drowned before his friends could save him.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the personnel of Old Goa Fire Brigade and the police rushed to the spot. Searched till late at night, but he was nowhere to be found. Private divers were called in this morning. Police inspector Satish Padvalkar informed that they took Darik’s body out of the water within a few minutes. He also said that the owner of Chirekhani will also be investigated. Sub-Inspector Sudin Redkar is conducting the further investigation.
