
MUMBAI – The crime branch succeeded in solving the Kurla suitcase murder mystery. It came to light that the lover living in the live-in had killed her and threw the body out of a suitcase due to suspicion of character. In this case, 22-year-old boyfriend Askar Manoj Barla (22), who lives in Dharavi, was arrested.
A woman’s body was found in a suitcase near the construction site of the Metro Rail in Kurla. After a case of murder was registered in Kurla police station in this case, the officials of the crime branch also started a parallel investigation in this case. Considering the seriousness of the incident, the police formed eight investigation teams of Room 5 and Room 11 of the Crime Branch. The police started trying to identify the girl with the help of her photograph and the clothes on her body. As soon as it was learned that the girl was a resident of Dharavi, the investigation sped up. The police came to know that the lover Askar Manoj Barla (22) was preparing to run away to Odisha. Accordingly, Sapa was arrested from Thane railway station.
The deceased girl has been identified as Pratima Paval Kispatta (25) and is a native of Odisha. She used to live in Dharavi area with accused Barla in a live in relationship. But due to doubt of character, quarrels broke out between the two. The accused strangled her to death due to this argument. In order to destroy the evidence, the accused stuffed Pratima’s body in a suitcase and threw it near the construction site of the metro rail in Kurlya. This place was chosen so that no one would notice it during the construction of the railway there. The crime branch handcuffed him while he was trying to go to the village from there.
