Hisar, 21 November (Hissar). “Crop Residue Waste Management Awareness Campaign” was organized on Tuesday on an important and burning issue under the joint aegis of HAU’s Agricultural Science Centre, Women’s Cell, NSS and Public Administration Department at the Government Women’s College. Under this campaign, various competitions were organized in the college in which about 150 girl students participated.
At the beginning of the program, Principal SS Dhanda said that in today’s time, agricultural residues have a negative impact on the air quality of the areas where they are burnt and especially of the towns and cities situated around them, which poses a threat to both the environment and society. It happens. That is why it is very important to manage it properly. As part of the programme, a poster making competition was organized on the topic “Crop Waste Management”. 30 participants participated in this competition who made very impressive posters on Crop Waste Management. In this competition, Anjana from B.Com II got first position, Kanishk from B.Com III got second position and Yogita from B.Com III got third position.
After this, 25 college students presented speeches on the topic “Environmental damage related to stubble burning and creative ways to manage it”. The students discussed in detail about other alternative uses of stubble instead of burning it. In this competition, Anshu from B.Sc. I got first place, Yogita from B.Com. III got second place and Reena from M.Com. I got third place.
During the lecture, Dr. Gopiram Sangwan, Assistant Agricultural Engineer from the Agriculture Department, explained about crop residues. He discussed in detail about additional uses of stubble like making compost, carpet making, bio fuel etc. On this occasion, Gopiram Sangwan, Dr. Naresh Kumar, Senior Coordinator, KVK, Sadalpur, Dr. Kuldeep Singh and Dr. Dinesh Kumar and Dr. Neelam Kumari, Dr. Vijender Bainiwal, Hina, Dr. Vasundhara and Dr. Kamlesh etc. from the college.
