Pilkhuwa. The married woman, resident of the locality of Kotwali area, has accused her in-laws of demanding extra dowry and attempting to murder her by burning her after the birth of a daughter. The police have admitted the woman to the hospital for treatment. The investigation has been started on the complaint of the victim’s brother.
While giving a complaint at the police station, Ravi Kumar, a resident of Chipyana village of Ghaziabad, said that his sister Meenu was married to a young man resident of a village under the police station area about two years ago. It is alleged that Meenu’s in-laws were not happy with the dowry received in the marriage, and since then they started demanding additional dowry. When their demands were not met, they used to beat him. Meanwhile the woman gave birth to a baby girl. It is alleged that when the dowry demand was not met, on the evening of November 19, her in-laws tried to kill Meenu by locking her in a room, pouring oil on her and setting her on fire. Somehow the woman escaped and informed her family about the matter. On receiving the information, her in-laws’ family reached the police station with the woman who was burnt in the fire. After which the police admitted the woman to the hospital for treatment.
SHO Suman Kumar Singh says that the medical examination of the woman has been done. The case is being investigated on the complaint of the victim’s brother, based on the evidence action will be taken against the accused.
