Lucknow: The alliance talks between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) failed in the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections. Monday night’s talks ended inconclusively. Sources of the party say that the chances of an alliance are almost non-existent as both the parties are acting in an unyielding manner in the case of three crucial seats in Moradabad division. However, both parties have not officially announced this matter.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has already announced that his party will not participate in Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nay Yatra’ till the seat sharing deal with Congress party is finalised. It is said that the two parties have come to a consensus in almost all the seats, and in the case of the Moradabad constituency, no one has backed down. While Congress is demanding Bijnor seat, SP is refusing to give either Moradabad or Bijnor. It is said that due to this, a deadlock has arisen in the negotiations and the situation of alliances is becoming stronger. On Monday, the SP proposed to give 17 Lok Sabha seats to the Congress, excluding the seats that are being contested by both the parties. But the Congress is fighting for at least 20 seats. Earlier it had offered 11 seats to the Congress but the party insisted on more seats. Meanwhile, the key constituencies agreed to be given to Congress include Amethi, Raibareli, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Deoria, Bansgaon, Maharajganj, Barabanki, Kanpur, Jhansi, Mathura, Fatehpur Sikri, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Hathras, Shahranpur.
