Patna – Six people died in a fire in a hotel near Patna Junction railway station when a gas cylinder exploded. About thirty people were burnt. Of these, 12 people with severe burns are undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College Hospital. Three women were among the dead.
The fire broke out at 10.45 am. The fire broke out in the Pal Hotel on the ground floor of the four-storey building. Amrita Hotel in the adjacent building also caught fire. Those who were in these two hotels were victims of the disaster.
The fire brigade rescued around 40 people as the fire spread to the upper floors. The fire brigade was also able to prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings. Fire engines and cranes took time to reach the spot due to heavy traffic on the road in front of the railway station.
