Last July, action was taken against 2.5 crore objectionable Facebook posts and 20 lakh Instagram posts in India, Meta said.

In this regard, the monthly report issued by the company on Wednesday said:

Following the Information Technology Rules 2021 implemented by the Government of India, action has been taken against 2.5 crore objectionable posts on Facebook and 20 lakh posts on Instagram in India last July.

Of the 2.5 crore posts in action on Facebook, 1.73 crore posts were posted for purposes such as advertising, spreading malware, 27 lakh pornographic posts, 23 lakh posts of violence and graphics. Apart from this, 9.98 lakh records related to terrorism have been identified and action has been taken against 99.8 percent of them.

The 20 million posts in action on Instagram include posts containing porn, violence and graphic, suicidal content.

From July 1 to 31, 626 complaints were received from Facebook users. Out of them 603 complaints were resolved to the beneficiaries. During the same period, 1,033 complaints were received from Instagram users, of which 945 complaints were resolved.
