Police has arrested a three-member gang, which blew gold worth Rs.5 crore from the jewelers showroom located under Lordganj police station in Jabalpur. Due to loss in business and increase in debt during the Corona period, the accused had planned theft in the jewelers showroom.

According to Additional Director General of Police Jabalpur Zone Umesh Joga, the incident of theft was carried out by cutting the lock with a cutter in the Payalwala Gold Show-room located in the super market on the intervening night of August 15-16. The thieves also took out the DVR of the CCTV cameras and recordings installed in the shop. The shop operator, after matching the stock, told that the thieves have taken away 10 kg, 252 grams and 70 milligrams of gold. The value of which is about five and a half crore rupees. Considering the seriousness of the incident, he had announced a reward of thirty thousand rupees on the accused and 10 thousand rupees by the Superintendent of Police.

Police started investigation. On checking the surrounding video footage, two suspicious persons were seen behind the shop. After this he was seen going in an Innova car. Whose number was hidden. On the basis of the footage received, the police started the investigation in relation to the accused and arrested the three accused who carried out the crime.

Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal Khandel told that the master mind of this theft plan was Gopi alias Ghulam Mustafa, age 42 resident of Motinala, resident of Gohalpur. He used to buy and sell vehicles and also operated a small factory to manufacture electronic items. The theft was planned due to the lockdown, business stagnation and increasing debt. He had entrusted his 28-year-old fellow Arif resident Pasiana to rake the shop. Apart from this, he himself was also doing racket of the shop.

To cover the number plate of his Innova on the date of the incident, he had pasted the tape with cloth. After this, his companion Baiju alias Baijuddin reached the Dutt temple with the age of 32 years. The accused reached behind the shop with the cutter, rod and other equipment kept in the car. He entered inside the shop by cutting about 10 locks. He committed the theft while staying in the shop for two hours. When the sound came from outside, both of them filled the stolen goods in the sack and came back to their car with the back shutter.

The accused were so clever that they kept moving the vehicle in the streets and alleys of the city for three hours. After this went to Komsghat by car. Where he hid the sack of jewellery. After this they reached Bhedaghat and after parking the car returned home. After this, after reaching Kosagham by motor cycle, he took a sack of jewelery and reached Gopi’s house and divided them among themselves.

Police said that when Asif read the news of the theft in the newspaper, he approached Gopi and threatened to inform the police. Giving him fifty grams of gold, Gopi asked him to keep quiet. Gopi had lured him to give him more gold. Meanwhile, identifying Innova and the suspect, the police arrested the three accused and recovered the stolen jewellery.
