On the beat of Sandal
As soon as the sandal, which consists of a team of at least 25 to 30 people, starts playing, even those who cannot dance join the rhythm. Sandal is a variant of Tasha from Dhol Tasha. The sandal team of Babulgaon is in high demand. This is a generational business of Syed Noorbhai of Babhulgaon in Yavatmal district. This tasha is played with sticks made of wood and umbrella strings.
Tasha used to be covered with leather. Now motor winding paper is applied. Sandal is characterized by starting very slowly and gradually increasing the speed and intensity of the sound. Ganesh devotees have left no stone unturned this year.
