New Delhi. The Supreme Court is going to hear on Thursday in many important cases including Teesta Setalvad’s bail plea and Sidhu Musewala murder case. The Supreme Court will hear the bail plea of Teesta Setalvad, who is in jail in the 2002 riots case in Gujarat. The Gujarat government has filed an affidavit opposing Teesta’s bail.
The matter came up in the investigation
In the affidavit, it has been said by the Gujarat government that in the investigation of this case, many evidences have been found against Setalvad. He gathered proven wrong from the communal riots of 2002 and worked to implicate innocent people. Let us tell you that on July 30, the sessions court had rejected the bail plea of Teesta Setalvad. The court had said that the object of the accused was to “destabilize” the Gujarat government and defame the state. Therefore, they cannot be granted bail in this case.

Let us tell you that Teesta Setalvad is accused of collecting false evidence to implicate the then Chief Minister of the state Narendra Modi in the 2002 Gujarat riots cases. Now he is in jail in this case. Social activist Teesta Setalvad has now filed a bail application in the same case.
Who is Teesta Setalvad
Teesta Setalvad was born in 1962 in Maharashtra. He is a graduate from Mumbai University. His father Atul Setalvad was a lawyer while his grandfather was the country’s first Attorney General. His name was MC Setalvad. Teesta Setalvad was awarded the Padma Shri in 2007. He has also received the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award in 2002. Now he is a social worker.
