New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of Rs 25 lakh for information on underworld kingpin Dawood Ibrahim. Abdul Razzaq Memon) and a reward of Rs 15 lakh each has been announced.

In 2003, the UN Security Council had put a $25 million bounty on the head of Dawood Ibrahim, who was wanted in connection with multiple terror attacks in India, including the 1993 Mumbai blasts. Along with Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed, Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar, Hizbul Mujahideen founder Syed Salahuddin and his close aide Abdul Rauf Asghar, Dawood Ibrahim’s head has also been put on fire.

The NIA had registered a new case against Ibrahim and his associates in February this year after receiving information that Dawood Ibrahim’s ‘D’ Company had set up a special unit in India with the help of terrorist organizations and Pakistan’s spy agency ISI to target prominent political leaders and businessmen of the country.

Based on the NIA case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a money laundering investigation into the matter. Then on February 23, Maharashtra’s former Minority Development Minister Nawab Malik was arrested for alleged black money dealings with Dawood Ibrahim. A case was registered against Dawood Ibrahim, his assistants Chota Shakeel, Parkar and Iqbal Mirchi in connection with money laundering. In the subsequent investigation, it was found that Nawab Malik was also involved.
