Tirupur industrialists have expressed concern that 70 percent of industries have been paralyzed due to the increase in cotton prices.

Most of the small, micro and medium enterprises are closed.

To save the powerloom industry, cotton price hike should be addressed. In order to reduce electricity bills, public refineries should be provided with wind or solar power facilities. It should be subsidized.

A Knitwear Board should be set up so that the problems of the industry can be easily resolved. If cotton prices are controlled, Tirupur will soon come to the top,” he said.

Union Minister of State L. Murugan said, “Tiruppur plays an important role in the country’s economy. The central government is taking measures to reduce the price of cotton. As a part of this, it has also taken measures to import cotton.

There have been complaints that cotton prices are inflated by online trading. Actions will be taken to control this,” he said.
