New Delhi. Today (Sunday) India and Pakistan will once again face each other in the Asia Cup. This is the second time in a week that both the teams will be playing each other. In the thrilling match on 28 August, India defeated Pakistan in the last over. But today (September 4) India’s road is not looking easy. The reason for this is the injury and illness of the players as well as the use of the selectors. Due to these experiments, a situation has arisen that proper replacement of players is not being done in the 15-member Indian team.

To understand the use of selectors, first of all it is necessary to know who are the players in the 15-man team of India. So first of all have a look at the whole team. Rohit Sharma (capt), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel (replaces Ravindra Jadeja), R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal , Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan.

It is clear that only three specialist fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan have been selected in this team of India. The same number of specialist spinners R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi have been selected. Hardik Pandya is a fast bowling all-rounder. Axar Patel has been included in the team in place of spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has been out of the team due to injury.

Now this experiment or combination has become a headache for Team India. Actually fast bowler Avesh Khan’s health has deteriorated. He is said to have fever. Coach Rahul Dravid made it clear that he will not be able to play in the Super-4 match against Pakistan. That is, Team India will have to field some other player in his place. Now the problem is that there is no such player in India’s 15-man team who knows how to bowl fast. It is clear that India will now have to field a spinner in place of Avesh Khan. It is clear as a mirror that it will be India’s will and not compulsion. Had India had the option of a fast bowler instead of Avesh, the team management would have gone with him.

This is where the mistake of the selectors comes into play. In the current team of India, 4 spinners including all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have been selected. Knowing that usually only 2 spinners play in the playing XI. We all saw that all the four fast bowlers of the Indian team (including Hardik Pandya) played in the Asia Cup. While two spinners were found sitting on the bench.

This is where team balance comes in. Whenever a 14-15 member squad is selected, it is taken care that there should be at least one additional fast bowler. This is where the Indian selectors made a mistake. He did not do this and now the team may have to bear the brunt of it on the field.
