Prominent dramatist Dr. Ramachandran Mokeri passed away

Kozhikode: Prominent dramatist and former director of School of Drama, Dr. Ramachandran Mokeri passed away. He was 75 years old. He passed away in a private hospital in Kozhikode due to cancer. The body was kept for public viewing at Kozhikode Town Hall till 12 noon. The body was later taken to Thalassery. Funeral services will be held at the residence.

He was one of the pioneers of one-person drama and street drama. Ramachandran Mokeri. He was an English teacher at Guruvayoorappan College, Calicut, Calicut. Mokeri holds a research degree in Shakespearean plays. He also served as the director of the Thrissur School of Drama under Kozhikode University.

He has acted in famous director John Abraham’s ‘Amma Vishna’, Chinta Ravi’s Same Tuwal Pakshikal, James Joseph’s Galileo and Pixelia etc. He also played the lead role in the play Galileo opposite actor Narendra Prasad. He has authored works such as Chinmbhinnam and Thendikooth. Ramachandran was born in Panur Mokeri in 1947 as the son of KV Govindan and Devaki. Wife: Usha (Retd. Teacher, Children; Manu (IT Engineer, Singapore), Jones (Business).
