Nileswaram: The tarring that was carried out from Market Junction to Main Bazaar with traffic stopped completely lasted only one day. The damaged part of the road near AR Traders was re-tarred by diverting traffic from Sunday morning.
There was also rainwater in the pothole on the broken road. Traffic was stopped and tarring was done from Sunday morning to afternoon. It was also pressed with a road roller. However, the taring was done without properly changing the water in the pit and without removing the dust particles from other places.
By Monday, the tarring had loosened and the road was littered with gravel. Moreover, the nearby residents and traders struggled with the dust. The house and commercial establishments were filled with dust.
Also, gravel chips get stuck between the tires as the vehicles move and fall on top of other vehicles. There is also a situation where gravel is splashed on the bodies of people doing business and pedestrians nearby.
While spending tens of thousands from the treasury of the municipality for re-tarring, no officer or departmental engineers even came to check the tarring. The road collapsed again within a day, raising suspicions that corruption had taken place.
