Krishnagiri Government Girls Higher Secondary School celebrated National Nutrition Month under the auspices of Department of Social Welfare and Women’s Rights, Integrated Child Development Program.
The function was presided over by District Collector Jaya Chandrabhanu Reddy in which Anganwadi workers and government department officials took the pledge on nutrition.
Also, the Collector gave prizes to the winners of the awareness contests held among the public about nutrition for young women and pregnant mothers at the district level.
Then he said:-
A series of awareness activities on nutrition is being followed accordingly. Accordingly, all villages and cities are encouraged to identify and care for malnourished children and set up home gardens. Similarly, establishment of community vegetable garden at village level should be encouraged.
Also, medical examination of center children should be done once in 3 months by medical team. Children who are severely malnourished will be given medical treatment. Also, Anganwadi workers and health workers in villages should go door to door to create awareness about nutrition among the general public, pregnant mothers and young women. There has been no maternal death in our district for the past 3 months.
Various awareness is being created among the public to prevent child marriage in the district. Therefore, all the public should cooperate to prevent child marriage, encourage female education and make Krishnagiri district an excellent district in the advancement of women. Child marriage has reduced drastically. This was said by the Collector. Earlier, on behalf of the Integrated Child Development Programme, the Collector visited an exhibition on small grains, fruit varieties, vegetable varieties, locally available food types for newborn to 6 year old children, pregnant mothers and lactating mothers.
