Parents who use mobile phones and other digital devices for 4 hours a day have changed their behavior with their children. Researchers from the University of Waterloo surveyed 549 parents with two children between the ages of 5 and 18.
Parents who stay connected to phones or other digital media in their spare time or leisure time become irritated with their children. This research revealed that they get angry and shout over small things. Parents who use mobile phones and other digital devices also have 75 percent depression. This research was done during the corona period. It found that screen time and use of digital media increased. Parents spend an average of 3 to 4 hours a day using digital media. Jasmine Zhang, a clinical psychology scholar at the University of Waterloo and an author of the study, said the behavior of both parents and children as a family is important. At such times, it was found that the behavior of the parents was also negatively affected. Connections were seen in increased screen time and behavioral changes due to digital devices. Also, when family members talk less, it was seen that parents’ bad parenting habits came to the fore.
Be less active on social media and stay socially active Research Head Prof. According to Jasmine Zhang, parents who spend 1 or 2 hours a day on social media have more positive attitudes towards their children. She said, parents should be more active socially.
