The leaders of the Tamil National Party have reiterated to the main member states of the Human Rights Council that the demands of the affected Tamil parties should be included in the motion.
In this regard, on Wednesday, 22 September 2011, the leaders of the Tamil National Party, Mr. Senathiraja, Justice CV Wigneswaran, Selvam Adhikalanathan, Dharmalingam Siddharthan, Suresh Premachandran, N. Srikanta have jointly sent a letter to the foreign ministers of the main countries that are members of the UN Human Rights Council and the resident representatives of the UN Human Rights Council.
The demand of the Tamil side is indifferent
It is further stated in the said letter, “Though we have already sent them a letter containing demands from the affected Tamils, we point out that the main demand put forward by us in the published model motion and the issue of bringing the perpetrators to the International Criminal Court recommended in the report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights have been neglected.
We are experienced in destruction. We have paid a heavy price for the inaction of the international community. Tens of thousands of people have been massacred and maimed.
In this situation, we observe that our demands are not included in the motion presented by the Human Rights Council to get justice for the victims.
Burden to the International Criminal Court
In this difficult situation, we reiterate to include our main request to bring the perpetrators to the International Criminal Court in the motion that will be submitted without neglecting the demands of the affected parties as well as the recommendations of the UN officials.
