Director of Public Health Department, Dr. Selvavinayagam has said that most of the victims were not vaccinated due to Corona deaths in Tamil Nadu for the past few days.
He also said that the death rate has increased as a result of the elderly not getting proper corona vaccination. Omicron and its variants, PA-4 and PA-5, have so far been non-life-threatening. But recently that situation has changed.
On March 17, one person died of Corona in Tamil Nadu. After that, the spread of infection gradually decreased. In fact, there were no casualties for the next three months. However, on June 15, a 17-year-old girl with no co-morbidities died of corona. Following that, casualties are being reported continuously. It is noteworthy that many of them do not get vaccinated.
Dr. Selvavinayagam, Director of Public Health, said:
In the last three months, 20 people have died due to corona in Tamil Nadu. 11 of them have not been vaccinated. 2 have paid only one installment.
In general, unvaccinated people are 3.5 times more likely to die from the disease than vaccinated people.
The general public should be aware of this fact. Those who have received the first dose of vaccine do not come forward for the second dose and the booster dose.
Don’t think that you can protect yourself from Corona by getting vaccinated once. He said that only if the second dose and booster dose are given, the disease resistance against the evolving pest will be fully developed.
Two more deaths: Meanwhile, an 80-year-old man from Chengalpattu and a 67-year-old man from Tiruvallur have died of corona in Tamil Nadu. 529 new infections have been confirmed on Friday.
