Kochi: Dr. Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital was stabbed by an assailant. Vandana’s cremation will be held today. After the public viewing ceremony, the funeral will be held at the house premises at 2 pm. After the post-mortem, the dead body was brought to the home in Katturutthi Muttuchira from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College at around 8 pm.

Hundreds of people thronged the house to catch a last glimpse of their beloved doctor. This morning also the pandal prepared in the backyard will be facilitated for public darshan. Yesterday, Vandana’s body was kept for public viewing at the Medical College Hospital and later at Azizia Medical College, Kollam, where Vandana studied.

Many people, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Congress leader VM Sudhiran, reached the hospital and paid their last respects. At the same time, the IMA has announced that a state-wide strike will be held today in protest against the killing of Vandana, a resident of Kottayam Manjoor, a house surgeon at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. A march will be held under the leadership of IMA to the district centers and secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister will hold a discussion with the doctors at 10:30 in the morning. The DGP will appear in the High Court today in connection with the matter. Dr. Today, the High Court is re-examining the situation that led to the tragic murder of Vandana Das. A division bench consisting of Justice Devan Ramachandran and Kausar Edappagat will hold a special sitting at 10 am.

Yesterday, the court asked the state police chief to appear online and give an explanation. An incident report should also be provided. The court is in preliminary assessment that the police have failed in the doctor’s death. It was also suggested that further steps should be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening again. However, the police are of the opinion that there was no failure on the part of the police in the incident.

According to the report, the injured person was taken to the hospital and there was no provocation until he was taken to the hospital. Sandeep is not accused in other cases. When there was a sudden attack, the policemen who intervened were also stabbed. The police will submit a report to the High Court today, clarifying that they did it to stop the assailant.
