In Tonk district, the thunderstorm accompanied by rain on Thursday night has caused a lot of destruction. 11 people died after coming under the grip of tin, thatch, houses and walls that fell from the storm. Apart from this, one person died due to lightning on the farm. Grandfather, grandson and granddaughter of the same family were killed and four people were injured when the wall of a house collapsed at the district headquarters. They have been admitted to the hospital. On the other hand, the relatives of these deceased sat on a dharna in the collectorate premises demanding compensation and government jobs for the dependents.

After getting the information about the dead, Collector Chinmayi Gopal, ADM Shivcharan Meena and other officers reached Saadat Hospital and the houses of the dead to know their condition.

There was hue and cry in the district due to 12 deaths due to natural calamity. Apart from this, around 500 electric poles etc. were broken. There was darkness because of no electricity throughout the night. In many areas there was a power failure even till Friday afternoon. On the other hand, after getting the information of the dead, Collector Chinmayi Gopal, ADM Shivcharan Meena and other officers reached Saadat Hospital and the houses of the dead from Friday morning till noon to know about their condition. Also assured that the victims of this natural calamity, including the dependents of the deceased, would be provided assistance from the government as per rules. A survey is being conducted for this. At the same time, due to heavy rains, water has entered some ponds and dams of the district. Three inches of water has come in Tordi Sagar Dam in the district. 70 mm of rain has been recorded at Tordi Range Center.

Awa police post in-charge Uday Lal said that farmer Mustaq Khan (55) Gafoor Khan, who had gone to guard the crop on the farm in Awa, was asleep. He died late at night due to lightning. This came to know in the morning when his son went to the farm. His father Mustaq was lying scorched on the cot. Seeing this he cried. Later the surrounding farmers came. Meanwhile, Awa Sarpanch Divyansh M Bhardwaj also reached the spot and informed the SDM, station in-charge. Later, station in-charge Vijay Singh Meena, ASI Udayveer reached the spot and got the post-mortem done at Dooni Hospital and handed it over to the family members.
