District Collector Kalachelvi Mohan advised the officials in the farmers’ welfare meeting to respond properly to the pleas of the farmers.
District Collector Kalachelvi Mohan presided over the meeting of the farmers in the Kanchipuram District Collectorate office premises.
Kanchipuram District Agriculture Department Associate Director Suresh read the report of the District Agriculture Department, following which the status of the petitions submitted by the farmers was explained one by one. The officials also briefed the petitioner about the present status of the petition.
Speaking at the farmers’ meeting following this, in Kanchipuram district, cooperative societies have sufficient stock of fertilizers but their prices are higher than private ones, and when farmers get loans, they provide the fertilizers in the societies.
They also accused the farmers of facing huge hardship due to this. Similarly, they requested the Collector to take action to eliminate irregularities in various political rice procurement stations.
They also requested that action should be taken immediately as the demands of the farmers have not been resolved for several months.
They also complained that co-operative banks do not provide jewelry loan for 10,000.
Following this, Collector Kalachelvi Mohan provided various welfare schemes to the farmers.
District Revenue Officer Sivaruthrayya, District Rural Development Program Manager Selvakumar, Co-operative Societies Liaison Director Jayashree and other officials from various departments participated in the event.
Also, the meeting was attended by a large number of farmers as there were not enough seats, so many farmers remained standing for two hours until the meeting was held.
