Hyundai’s micro SUV will be launched in the market on this day, will compete with Exter, Tata Punch and Magnite

New Delhi. Automobile company Hyundai has informed about the launch of its micro SUV Exter on 10 July. For this, booking has started at the company’s dealerships. It will get the option of 1.2 liter petrol engine and CNG. For the past few months, the company has been testing the Exter.

It will be in the segment below Hyundai’s Venue. It will compete with Tata Motors’ Punch, Nissan’s Magnite and Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx. The Exter will be made available in EX S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect variants. Some new features like dashcam and smart electric sunroof will be given in it with dual cameras. Its sunroof will also work on voice commands. However, this feature is likely to be available only in the top variant of Exter. The dashcam will have a 5.84 cm LCD display and will feature smartphone connectivity, multiple recording modes and Full HD recording.

Bookings for the Exter can be done online or at the company’s dealership for just Rs 11,000. Hyundai Exter has been given a 1.2 liter VTVT NA petrol engine which is also available in the company’s Venue, i20, Grand i10 Nios and Aura. It has 5 speed manual and AMT transmission. The CNG option of this SUV is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It gets 8-inch floating infotainment system, connected car technology, wireless charger, Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, semi-digital cluster and 6 airbags for safety.

Its design is based on Hyundai’s new design system, which has a split headlamp setup with H-shape LED DRLs. It houses the turn indicators at the top and the headlamp cluster at the bottom. The side of the Exter gets squared wheel arches with dual tone alloy wheels. There is a black stripe at the rear which is linked to both the tail lamps. It gets a blacked-out bumper with diffuser. Its taillamps include LED elements. It can be bought in six monotone and 3 dual tone colours. SUV sales have grown exponentially in the last few years. For this reason, many automobile companies are launching their new models in this segment. The Exter could help Hyundai strengthen its position in the micro SUV segment.
